Following significant market growth (135% in 3 years), Avon South Africa needed support in the reconfiguration and expansion of a distribution centre to significantly increase pallet locations on site and overall warehouse capacity.
Introducing a set template for the distribution centre and managing the design for the build, Hecla successfully delivered a 110% increase in pallet locations by reconfiguring the site. We managed a reconfiguration from 28 wide aisles at 6 rows high to narrower aisles at 7 high. This increased pallet locations from 5,300 to 11,130, all while de-bottlenecking the facility.
During these efficiency improvements at an existing site we also delivered a new aerosol warehouse for the business, relocated battery charging to increase capacity and implemented dock safety equipment to ensure improved health and safety compliance.
